Joan Rice and Richard Todd

This romantic image showing Joan Rice as Maid Marian and Richard Todd as Robin Hood, was kindly sent in by Mike.

A colour version of this picture appeared on the cover of the French magazine Cinemonde on the 26th September 1952 and was promoting the release of Disney's  live-action movie, the Story of Robin Hood and his Merrie Men.

The wonderful scene where he carries Marian across the stream in Sherwood Forest, is one of my favourite moments of the film.

Mine too, there are so many magic moments in this film, to many to mention. Meeting Marian again with Alan a dale and Midge has to be a favorite moment along with "Whistle my love" and Friar Tucks song.

Yes and filmed at Denham on a beautifully deisgned studio set that is so realistic you would think you were out in the forest. The detail is such that there is also a slight breeze which is noticeable. Carmen Dillon's designs and technique did a lot for this film. As I have commented before this film has probably the best studio sets I have ever seen.
